Product

The whole loop, end to end.

Everything a video platform actually needs — and nothing faked to look real. Here's what's built.

The watch page

The essence.

  • Player. 16:9 stage, auto-hiding controls, big-play, center toast, skip indicators.
  • Scrub previews. Storyboard sprite sheet per video; hover shows the frame + timestamp + chapter title.
  • Chapters. Description timestamps segment the progress bar and jump the player.
  • Volume / speed / theater / fullscreen. 0.25×–2× speed, theater widens the stage, f toggles fullscreen.
  • Keyboard. space/k play-pause, ←/→ 5s, j/l 10s, ↑/↓ volume, m mute, f fullscreen, 0–9 jump.
  • Like. 150–250ms spring + a category-themed particle burst; fires on like, never unlike.
  • Subscribe. High-contrast pill that becomes a neutral ‘Subscribed’ with a bell — the CTA de-emphasizes itself.
  • Comments. Two-option sort (Top / Newest), single-level threads, pins, creator hearts, live composing.
  • Watch progress. Resumes where you left off; a red bar renders on partially-watched thumbnails.

Home, channels & search

Everything around the video.

  • Home feed. Thumbnail grid, category chips, sorted by recent & popular — an honest heuristic, not personalized AI.
  • Channels. Banner, avatar, handle, subscriber count, tabbed Videos / About / Recap.
  • Subscriptions. A dedicated feed of new uploads from channels you follow.
  • Search. Title, description, channel and tag matching with sensible ranking.
  • Upload. R2 passthrough for MP4/WebM up to 90 MB, browser-generated poster, single rendition.

Studio

Numbers that tell you what to do.

  • Reach. Views, impressions, impressions CTR (2–10% band), watch time — all vs. your typical.
  • Retention. The signature second-by-second curve, with the intro dip and mid-video hold called out.
  • Realtime. Estimated plays over the last 48 hours, from the beacon.
  • Content table. Every video ranked by views, with impressions → CTR → average view duration.

Rewind

The gimmick, built.

  • Instance recap. Total hours watched, videos uploaded, most-watched, fastest-growing, records set.
  • Channel recap. Views, watch hours, subs gained, top video, top fan (handles only), creator persona.
  • Story pager. Tap/keys to advance, progress ticks, count-up stat animations.
  • Share. Each recap renders to a 1080×1920 image you own; opt-in by design.
The stop-line

What we don't fake.

No transcoding — Playback serves single-rendition files and can pre-generate one sprite sheet per video; it does not promise 4K adaptive streaming. Ranking is recency + popularity + same-channel + tag similarity, not black-box ML. Counts are session-deduped plays, not audited views. Moderation is owner-side tools, not scaled classification. We'd rather tell you the boundary than draw a fake button inside it.
